Job Description

Leveraging the company’s one-stop customization services for automotive parts, bicycle components, thermal printers, and smart home products—including die-casting and plastic molding—we are currently recruiting a full-time mold designer. The role involves leading the independent design of plastic molds for automotive parts and zinc/aluminum alloy die-casting molds, as well as overseeing the full technical management of the mold process from initial review to final modification, in compliance with IATF 16949 automotive quality system production requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the full-cycle independent design of plastic and die-casting molds for automotive parts: conducting structural analysis of customer product drawings, planning mold parting line schemes, creating 3D models in UG/SW, drafting 2D engineering drawings in AutoCAD, and compiling accurate mold BOMs to ensure mold structures meet mass production, assembly, and product appearance/performance requirements.

Leveraging the molding characteristics of materials such as ABS, PP, aluminum alloy, and zinc alloy, optimize the four core systems—injection, cooling, ejection, and venting—to prevent mass production defects such as shrinkage, warpage, porosity, and flash. Extend mold service life while improving first-pass yield and compatibility with automated production.

We provide full-process oversight of the entire mold manufacturing cycle—including roughing, finishing, assembly, trial runs, and mold modification—to identify and resolve on-site trial run defects. We investigate root causes related to structural design, runner layout, and cooling systems, develop detailed modification plans, and implement closed-loop solutions for on-site technical issues.

Internally, coordinate with machining, die-casting, and injection molding production workshops; externally, liaise with mold material and standard component suppliers. Provide technical requirements for machining tolerances, surface treatments, and material selection; conduct technical handover of drawings; and ensure control over mold machining precision and delivery schedules.

Establish an internal standardized database for plastic and die-casting molds, archiving drawings, BOMs, trial mold reports, and mold repair cases. Unify design specifications to reduce repetitive design work and improve the team’s overall development efficiency.

Stay abreast of new technologies in the automotive parts industry regarding mold lightweighting and high-precision machining; optimize mold structures to simplify manufacturing processes, reduce mold production costs, and shorten product pre-development cycles.

Qualifications

Education and Major: Associate’s degree or higher in mold design and manufacturing, mechanical design, materials forming, or related engineering disciplines.

Work Experience: 5+ years of independent design experience in plastic or die-casting molds; must have hands-on experience with automotive parts and interior trim molds; familiar with automotive client factory audits and drawing standards.

Software Skills: Proficient in at least two mainstream design software programs (UG, SolidWorks, AutoCAD); capable of independently completing modeling, drafting, and tolerance verification for complex cavities and high-precision insert molds.

Process Knowledge: Expertise in the shrinkage rates of plastic, zinc, and aluminum die-casting materials, as well as the principles of molding defects; thorough understanding of mold finishing processes (e.g., CNC, EDM, wire cutting) and precision control standards.

System Competence: Familiarity with the IATF 16949 automotive quality management system; ability to handle drawing revisions, trace technical documentation, and archive non-conformance records in accordance with system requirements.

General Qualifications: Under 45 years of age; meticulous and detail-oriented; capable of cross-departmental communication; able to handle the pressure of managing multiple concurrent projects; preference given to candidates with experience in designing high-precision molds for large automotive parts, as well as stacked/hot runner molds.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: Negotiable based on individual experience; above-average within the industry

Benefits: Social insurance coverage, on-site accommodation and meals provided, one day off per week, statutory holidays, and a high-spec computer
